About Cathy Bion

Cathy Bion travels the ports of the world, from Morocco to Brittany, from Portugal to Normandy, from Australia to Mexico, far from the marked paths.

Without retouching or reframing, his photographic approach is abstract, close to painting.

In the docks flooded with light, her painter's eye stalks the colors and the materials, the traces of men's work connected to the time and the elements, a secret alchemy ... Her photographs recreate imaginary landscapes, colorful life fragments she invites to share to cast off for a free journey.

The artist started photography at the age of 8; she travels as a teenager, then her career in communication and in the press have contributed to the formation of her eyes.

Since 1992, she exhibited her work in France and abroad (Japan, Morocco, Hong-Kong, Australia, Mexico, USA, Korea); the French and foreign press regularly report it.

"Couleurs d'alizés", the monographic work which resumes port calls, was published at the end of 2010 by Criteria Editions (diffusion librairies). Her photographs are accompanied by art critics' texts and a graphic preface by the cartoonist Loustal.

The author has also created several artists' books and has conducted visual arts workshops for about fifteen years. Her photographs have been published on various media: books, arty bags, posters, banners, greeting cards and they are included in public and private collections in France, Morocco, Japan, Australia and Mexico.
